DESCRIPTION
Eucalyptus 'Moon Lagoon,' also known as Silver-leaved Mountain Gum, is a cultivated variety valued for its stunning silvery-blue foliage. This compact evergreen tree thrives in full sun and requires regular watering to maintain its vigor and leaf color. Its lance-shaped leaves add year-round visual interest to gardens and landscapes.
To care for Eucalyptus 'Moon Lagoon,' plant it in well-drained soil and provide it with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the establishment phase. Prune as needed to maintain its shape and size. It's important to be cautious with pets and ensure they cannot access the plant due to the potential toxicity of eucalyptus leaves.
Eucalyptus websteriana (Webster's Mallee): This delightful variety, Webster's Mallee, is a true garden treasure with its multi-stemmed growth and stunning foliage. It's a bit more compact, making it a great fit for smaller gardens or as a statement piece in larger landscapes. The leaves are a lovely blue-green, emitting that classic eucalyptus scent when crushed. It thrives in full sun and prefers well-draining soil. Regular watering helps it establish, but once it's settled in, it becomes quite drought tolerant. Pruning can keep it looking tidy. And, like other eucalyptus varieties, keep it away from pets.
Eucalyptus albida (White-leaved Mallee): The White-leaved Mallee is a standout with its striking, almost white foliage that creates a beautiful contrast in any garden setting. Eucalyptus accedens (Powderbark Wandoo): The Powderbark Wandoo is truly unique with its powdery white bark that sheds in strips, revealing a smooth, yellowish surface beneath. Its narrow, glossy green leaves are a delightful sight and bring a vibrant touch to any landscape. This variety prefers full sunlight and well-drained soil, thriving with regular watering, especially in its growing stages. As it matures, it becomes more resilient to dry conditions. Keep in mind, this beauty is also not suitable for homes with pets.
Eucalyptus 'Evergreen': This variety, though not a traditional species, is a popular choice for its lush, evergreen appearance. Its dense foliage, typically a deep green, adds a robust and vibrant feel to gardens. It's a sun lover and does best in well-drained soil, requiring regular watering to maintain its lush appearance. Pruning can help manage its size and shape. And as with other eucalyptus varieties, it's best to keep 'Evergreen' out of reach of pets.
